EBARA FLUID HANDLING OFFICIALLY
BREAKS GROUND FOR FACILITY EXPANSION
Signifying long-term growth for the Company

ROCK HILL, SC – JULY 8, 2008 – EBARA Fluid Handling officially broke ground on Wednesday , July 9, at for the 36,000 square foot expansion of its sales, production and testing facility located at 1651 Cedar Line Drive, Rock Hill. Executives from EBARA International Corporation, EBARA Fluid Handling, local officials, construction and architectural representatives attended the ceremony.

The project will double the current facility size, cost approximately $3.2M and will take an estimated eight months to complete. Water and wastewater pumps will be built, tested and shipped from this location to distributors throughout North and South America.

The expansion supports the company’s product extension to now offer standard submersible pumps up to 150HP with larger pumps planned for the future. When complete, the facility will include a new 81,000 gallon computer-aided testing area capable of handling large-scale pump models both in wet and dry pit configurations up to 350 horsepower.

“The expansion of our facility is greatly needed in order to support our growth and the changing needs of the pump market segments we compete in,” said Martin Perlmutter, President, EBARA Fluid Handling. “The additional space will be used to expand our product offerings and support our growing customer needs.”

Perlmutter continued, “This investment by EBARA Corporation demonstrates the collective confidence in our stability and the economic health of our operations in the US.”

Rick Thompson, project manager for the expansion, added, “This expansion will allow our facility to function much more efficiently and the added capacity will offer an opportunity for our employees to produce equipment here locally that is currently produced elsewhere.”

William E. Bruce, Charlotte, NC served as the architect for the project and the construction will be managed by J.M. Cope Construction Company, Inc., Rock Hill, SC.
